About the Property
Built in 1891 by the Austell family and named for General Alfred Austell — a merchant, banker, and financier who founded the Atlanta National Bank (later Wachovia, now Wells Fargo). The mansion features over 6,300 square feet, 12-foot ceilings on both floors, 5 original brick fireplaces, heart-of-pine hardwood floors, stained glass windows, and Victorian architectural details meticulously preserved from the 1891 construction. The architect was Bruce & Morgan.
Restoration
Between 2016 and 2019, the Historic Austell House underwent an extensive roof-to-cellar restoration by Ducere Construction Services, master craftsmen specializing in historic preservation. The project achieved 2019 commercial and residential code compliance while adding smart building automation, energy-efficient commercial HVAC (7 tons), AI surveillance systems, and modern amenities — all while preserving original architectural details.
